Two systems, briefly explained
In Luxembourg, the CNS (Caisse Nationale de Santé) covers a large part of prescribed physiotherapy. Services such as osteopathy, dry needling or prevention and Pilates training, on the other hand, are self-pay services — this is where supplementary health insurance steps in and, for patients from Germany, in some cases the statutory health insurance funds as well.
Physiotherapy — CNS reimbursement
The basis is always a medical prescription, which must be validated by the CNS. We submit it for validation on your behalf — to do so, we must submit the prescription within 30 days of its being issued. Please therefore bring it to your first appointment as soon as possible.
| Situation | Sessions per prescription | Reimbursement |
|---|---|---|
| Standard condition (adults) | up to 8 | 70% of the CNS rate |
| Children & adolescents under 18 | depending on the prescription | 100% |
| After surgery on the musculoskeletal system* | up to 16 (max. 32 in total) | 100% |
| Manual lymphatic drainage | up to 24 | 70% (or 100%, see above) |
| Recognised serious condition (pathologie lourde, e.g. hemiplegia, MS, Parkinson’s) | up to 64 | 100% |
* Prescription issued within 4 months of the operation; treatments within 4 months of validation.

Osteopathy & additional services — who reimburses what?
The CNS does not currently reimburse osteopathy as standard. However, many supplementary health insurers contribute — the conditions vary depending on the plan:

Important for policyholders insured in Germany: Whether these subsidies also apply to treatment in Luxembourg is decided by the insurance fund on a case-by-case basis — check with them briefly before you book, or talk to us. Our invoices contain all the details required for submission.
How submission works
You receive a complete invoice from us. For CNS services, you submit the invoice + prescription to the CNS (or use direct billing where available). For supplementary health insurance, you send the paid invoice directly to your insurer — usually via their app or online portal.
All information is provided without guarantee, as of July 2026. Only the information provided by your insurer is binding — rates and conditions change. If you are unsure, we are happy to help you find your way.
